For the second game in a row, Rajasthan Royals run into a kamikaze side. Like Pune Warriors, Delhi Daredevils are going down too, but hold potential notoriety to take a team or two down with them. Given the nature of the format, it doesn't take much to cause an upset: all it needs is for one of Daredevils' big payers - now without the pressure of much to lose - to have a big day, and it could cost Royals a chance to progress further.

Even against Warriors, a side that has been struggling through the tournament, Royals - now tied on second spot with three other teams with five matches to go - took some time to recover from the Warriors onslaught that came from the freedom that comes with the knowledge you have nothing left to lose. If anything, Daredevils hold a bigger threat. To make the pressure worse for Royals, Daredevils have almost been free points for most of their rivals in the top half of the table.

Royal Challengers Bangalore finally scored away points, their first in five games on the road in IPL 2013, against Pune Warriors on Thursday. While the winning margin of 17 runs seemed comfortable enough in the end, Royal Challengers must have been worried as Robin Uthappa had a feisty go at the target of 188. To remove all remaining doubts, for themselves, the fans and the experts, they would have to score again in Mohali.

Apart from the psychological benefits of consecutive away victories, it's imperative that they win to allow themselves a bit of a cushion on the points table. Royal Challengers currently sit at No. 2 with 14 points from 11 games. But Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals all have the same numbers too. With five games to go in the group stages, Royal Challengers will want to break away from the pack without much delay.

Kings XI Punjab sit just outside of that mid-table cluster, with eight points from 10 games. We are expecting big inning from Gayle or Kohli today. But again we have seen the Chennai v Mumbai match yesterday where pitch has dramatically behaved as compare to previous matches. Reason behind, we generally ignores while watching the match that every ground has at least 6 pitches and we don't know on which pitch the match is being played. So, today might be different track.

They have been easier to beat than others, but you can bet teams will be approaching a match with them with slight trepidation too. For a team like Rajasthan Royals, who are in with a chance to make it to the playoffs, and who have provided Warriors' one of their rare wins this season, this becomes a crucial game. They need to win three out of their remaining six to reach nine wins, which all but assure their progression.

This is one of Royals' last three home games, and they haven't lost one in Jaipur this year yet. They will be wary of individual brilliance, which the visiting side is well capable of, despite the results' stating otherwise. Yuvraj Singh will be miffed at having been left out of the India team for the Champions Trophy, and might have a point to prove. Nobody wants to be at the receiving end of his ire.

A team that hasn't lost a single home game this season takes on another that's yet to lose an away fixture. Either way, on Sunday, one team's sequence will be broken. Mumbai Indians are back at Wankhede Stadium where they have won all their four games, described as a "fortress" by their captain, Rohit Sharma. After three consecutive victories - during which their batsmen posted scores of above 160 - their batting suffered a rare meltdown against Sunrisers Hyderabad, managing an underwhelming 129 in a heavy defeat. Mumbai have been displaced from the top four following Sunrisers' win against Delhi Daredevils on Saturday and will look to regain lost ground. Close on their heels is fourth-placed Rajasthan Royals, who also have 12 points, and play later on the evening.

Super Kings are all but through to the playoffs, with nine wins from 11 games. Against Kings XI Punjab, they showed they could recover quickly from a rare MS Dhoni failure, courtesy Suresh Raina's first IPL century that took them to an imposing 186. Though they won by a comfortable 15 runs, the contest was a lot closer than that margin suggested. An area they need to address going forward is the bowling. In their last five games, their bowlers have conceded scores of 185, 186 and 171. Their batting, though, has been consistent and potent. They could be a change at the top of the order, with M Vijay likely to return for Wriddhiman Saha, who was carrying an injury on the eve of the game.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are among the four teams who are closer to achieving the magic number of nine wins - Chennai Super Kings having already touched the marker - to qualify for the playoffs, assuming there are no major upheavals. They need at least three more wins out of their remaining six matches, four of which are to be played in Hyderabad, their fortress. They take on a resurgent Delhi Daredevils side, the captain of which had his smile restored after consecutive wins in Raipur.

Daredevils' campaign is under life-support - they need six wins in six matches - but every extra breath they draw will be at the expense of others, a fact Sunrisers need to be wary of. Daredevils have a strong pool of impact players; the same group took them to No. 1 in the points table last year. David Warner has been the best of them all this year - with four half-centuries - and has been pushed down from his usual top-three batting spot to lend some stability to a fragile middle order. Their bowling is pace-heavy, but slightly more dependable than their batting. Now if only Virender Sehwag and Mahela Jayawardene - the only other two batsmen to have scored half-centuries for Daredevils this season - can raise their games against arguably the most well-rounded bowling attack, Daredevils can continue to smile.

The pitch in Hyderabad is on the slower side and offered generous turn to the spinners in the last match. It also helps the faster bowlers because the batsmen find it difficult to hit through the line. The pace-bowling spearheads of both teams have a similar make-up - Dale Steyn and Ishant Sharma against Morne Morkel and Umesh Yadav - but there is a wide gulf otherwise. Kolkata Knight Riders find themselves racing the clock as time runs out on their bid to make it to the playoffs. With just three wins in 10 matches, Knight Riders risk finishing in the bottom half of the table unless they win every game from here on, including the one on Friday against Rajasthan Royals.
Knight Riders have enough firepower in their line-up to create a final surge. But their biggest hurdle, against Royals and the other teams, has been inconsistency. They've had few days when the batting and bowling has clicked together and the failure of marquee players has dragged them down further. But Knight Riders will hope the side that takes the field on Friday can feed off the enthusiasm and support of the loyal home crowd.

Royals need this win as badly as Knight Riders. They've been poor travellers this season and as the competition for the playoff spots heads for a logjam, a win here could give them some breathing space and possibly the momentum to open up a gap of a few points.

Fortunately for Royals, they have players who have stepped up to the challenges thrown their way. The batting looks settled in spite of captain Rahul Dravid's changes in the batting order. But they are struggling in away games and this is what we can say advantage for KKR.
