IPL2014: 40th match – Kolkata Knight Riders v Mumbai Indians, May 14, 2014

Match Preview

Mumbai Indians have a lot more riding on the outcome in Cuttack, considering defeat could leave them needing to win all their remaining matches. So managing Kolkata Knight Riders' spin attack gains further priority. Sunil Narine and Co juggle between attack and defence quite well and it will fall upon the Indian batsmen to circumvent them.

Rohit Sharma has had trouble deciding whether to open or not, but with Knight Riders known spin threat in the middle overs, he might remain at No.4. Mumbai will need him and Kieron Pollard to provide acceleration late in the innings. Their other resources - Corey Anderson has not looked comfortable without pace on the ball, CM Gautam is a rookie at this level and Lendl Simmons tends to be hit or miss - do not inspire much confidence.

PunterPolls Prediction

KKR have won the toss and elected to field first. Match ODDs are king of even 1.96 MI. 52% Punters are supporting MI as of now.

KKR opting field on this track is bit of on the basis of their past performances, they have done good chase in the previous matches and today they have decided to opt Shakib over the Kallis which is kind of gamble, specially when you are chasing the total. Also they should have realized that MI are never been too comfortable while chasing the total and they should have opted bat first on this spin friendly track.

So, we have decided to go with Mumbai Indians in this match.

But you should be on-line and keep an eye on our comments section of this page or Punters Wall.

  1. Still 6 minutes to go before the 1st ball bowled and what we can see that Match ODDs has changed to 1.96 KKR now. Will be back in half an hour time. Till then we suggest you to be on MI.

  2. Never seen batting like this in T20 format. Last 4 overs, they played like a test match and that too when Pollard is on crease. Match ODDs back to 1.56 KKR. Mood OFF. Will get back to you soon.

  3. Last 4 overs produces 26 runs with 6 wickets in hand and that too when Pollard and Rohit crease. This is something which we don’t call Cricket. They are at least 15 runs shots.
