PunterPolls Prediction – Match 71: Pune Warriors v Delhi Daredevils at Pune, 19 May

Race on to avoid ignominy of bottom place | PunterPolls Prediction

Despite three years of unremitting mediocrity, the fans of Pune Warriors have faithfully turned up to cheer on their side. It will be a testament to their loyalty if they show up in numbers for Warriors' final game of the season, which pits their team against Delhi Daredevils, another side which has had an utterly forgettable season. The only interest in the game will be to see which team avoids the bottom spot, in a season in which both have been inept.

PunterPolls Predictions

Tough to choose which team is worse between the two. Both teams biggest problem is their bowling, as far as batting is concern, Pune Warriors  seem better side between the two. Daredevils batting is struggling a lot but they do have experience captain as compare to PWI. But then, PWI are playing at the their home ground.

To keep everything in mind, our experts have decided to go with home team PWI.

PunterPolls Prediction – Match 70: Royal Challengers Bangalore v Chennai Super Kings at Bangalore, 18 May

Mumbai Indians look to preserve dominance | PunterPolls Prediction

Royal Challengers Bangalore would have been glued to their television sets on Friday evening, following the fortunes of Sunrisers Hyderabad. They wouldn't have been feeling too good by the end of it, for Sunrisers' victory has made Royal Challengers' path to the playoffs harder. Royal Challengers are in a must-win situation against Chennai Super Kings at home on Saturday. If they achieve it, it will take them to 18 points and on par with Sunrisers. However, Sunrisers have one more game to play, on Sunday, and a win will take them to 20 and knock Royal Challengers out of the competition. Therefore, for Royal Challengers, they need to win, foremost, and then wait and watch.

For a side that was running on full steam till the start of May, it's bizarre that they find themselves in this situation. Two consecutive defeats, against Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab, has turned their quest for the playoffs into a last-minute scramble. If losing to the struggling Knight Riders was disappointing enough, the manner of their defeat to Kings XI at home - their first loss in Bangalore - would have been harder to digest. Should Royal Challengers and Sunrisers be tied on points, the former have the safety net of a superior net run rate.

Super Kings are already through to the playoffs but currently sit behind table-leaders Mumbai Indians. Both teams will play their final league games on Saturday. Having finished in the top two, Super Kings and Mumbai will face each other in the first qualifier. Stephen Fleming, the Super Kings coach, hinted at fielding a few players who haven't been given an opportunity yet, before the playoffs.

PunterPolls Prediction – Match 69: Kings XI Punjab v Mumbai Indians at Dharamsala, 18 May

Mumbai Indians look to preserve dominance | PunterPolls Prediction

Sitting comfortably at the top of the table, Mumbai Indians have done enough to cement their place in the playoffs. In their last match of the league round against Kings XI Punjab, they would want to carry their winning momentum before meeting Chennai Super Kings in the first qualifier.

As formidable as they appear, their opponents would have made note of how the Mumbai batsmen managed just 34 runs in the last five overs against Royals. Prior to that match, against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai's batting was struggling until Kieron Pollard came in and thwarted Sunrisers with a blistering innings.

Sachin Tendulkar, who missed the previous game, has been declared fit* but could still sit out the game. "The games are coming thick and fast and it has been just three days since he sprained his wrist," Anil Kumble, the Mumbai Indians mentor, said. "Though he has recovered, he will probably give the match here a miss." Local boy Rishi Dhawan might also find a place in the side.

Sunrisers' victory over Rajasthan Royals put Kings XI out of the reckoning for the playoffs spot. With their tournament drawing to a close, Kings XI would like to register one last win and beating a high-profile team like Mumbai would certainly please their fans.

It is that time of the year again. Exactly a year ago, the BCCI suspended five Indian domestic players for alleged corruption. Three more, all from the same franchise, have been suspended a year later, and this time, a Test cricketer is allegedly involved. Rajasthan Royals will barely have had time to let the revelations sink in. They had a day's gap between their penultimate league game in Mumbai and their last one in Hyderabad, and were travelling when the news was being broken to the outside world.

The statements from Delhi police, shocking and disturbing as they are, don't take anything away from Rahul Dravid and Royals, who have done exceedingly well this season to make the playoffs ahead of fancied sides such as Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders. They now need to pick themselves up to face Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are also coming off a defeat to Mumbai Indians.

While Royals have lost nothing at home this season, they have won only two of seven away matches. The playoffs won't be in Jaipur. This is their last chance to try and finish in the top two so that they get two shots at making the final. A win may not take their minds completely off what has happened but nevertheless, a win is still a win.

Sunrisers are among the three sides in contention for the final playoff spot and are also the best placed among them, though their net run-rate at the moment is lower than Royal Challengers and Kings XI Punjab. After a scarcely believable assault from Kieron Pollard, they are back at their home ground, where their bowlers have tied down visiting sides this season. Sunrisers have another match to go against Knight Riders on Sunday, but considering their run-rate, would not want to leave it for then.

Kings XI Punjab are still in this tournament, if only just. Having pulled off a giant-killing on Tuesday, handing Royal Challengers Bangalore their first home defeat of the season, they will be buoyant. Now they have to win again, and then win once more on Saturday against the might of the Mumbai Indians to have any chance of qualifying. Meanwhile, Royal Challengers will need to lose again, and Sunrisers will need to lose two in two.

Before Mumbai though, they have a less daunting task: the struggling Delhi Daredevils. Last year Daredevils finished the league stage as table-toppers. This year they are in danger of finishing rock bottom. Following their capitulation against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday, their coach Eric Simons had pointed out that the most frustrating part of their campaign has been that they keep repeating the same mistakes, especially by losing early wickets.

He also said he is already looking at team combination for next year, when a complete overhaul of the squads could happen with all players scheduled to go into the auction (though it is more likely there will be a retention clause available to the franchises). The players will have that big auction at the back of their mind, as a decent finish to an otherwise abysmal campaign could be the difference between procuring a contract and going unsold.

Dharamsala had experienced heavy rain over the weekend, making the organisers wonder if the two games scheduled here would be affected. But, fortunately for Kings XI and the fans, the rain has blown over and the forecast for Thursday is clear.

Kings XI still have outside chance of qualifying for the play-offs though they have to win both the remaining matches and need to pray that RCB and Risers will loose their own. Though Kings XI fate is more depends upon other teams they have to done their bit. Their performance is on and off but far better then the Daredevils.

Daredevils are playing like an ordinary team, their batsmen are struggling and their bowlers don't know where to bowl and as far as their captaincy is concern, its been dis-array throughout the tournament.

Dharamshala ground is small with fast outfield and pitch is suitable for batting, chasing the total shouldn't been any problem but if Delhi will be chasing its always dicey as they are mainly dependent on Sehwag and Warner.

Our experts have decided to go with Kings XI in this match on the basis of teams performances.

Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals have been unbeaten at home this season, and their clash on Wednesday could be a prelude to what may follow in the play-offs. In their respective previous games, it seemed at one stage that their home advantage was about to be undermined, but Shane Watson and Kieron Pollard completely altered the course of the chases with destructive half-centuries that left their opponents scarred. Mumbai have been unshakeable at the Wankhede, Royals have had some trouble on the road.
The No.1 spot in the table with a game in hand could be at stake in Wednesday's clash, and it also likely that these two teams will not have seen the last of each other this IPL season.

Sachin Tendulkar suffered cramps on his left hand and was struggling to grip the bat during the chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He retired hurt on 38, and it remains to be seen if he's recovered well to take on Royals.

Both Mumbai Indians  and Royals been qualified for the play-offs but the spots hasn't been decided yet. Last match for Mumbai Indians at their home ground and would like to finish this with win. This will also help them to stay above the Royals in case they will win against the Risers on 17th.

Mumbai Indians havn't lost a single match at their home ground similar to their rivals of this match, who had already completed all their home games without loosing a game. MI in their last match had struggled a bit against the Risers, but again thanks to Pollard hard hitting stuff they manged to won that quite comfortably.

Royals have played some very good cricket at home but in away matches they are not quite upto mark. But later on they have registered a win against Kings XI at their home turf and this have given them the required confidence that they can beat any team if they play sensibly.

According to our experts, Mumbai pitch (if the same as last match) is good for chasing any target but if they the match will conducted on the pitch they have used against the CSK, Royals does have better chances to win the contest.

So guys, please stay tuned during the match and keep on discussing. We used to put our opinions as well but its been bit impossible for us to work 24 hours a day so we generally put our comments whenever we will get a chance.
