It's hard for the average fan to find much significance in this game, but Kolkata Knight Riders would disagree. Their chances of progressing to the playoffs are mighty slim at the moment, but it's still mathematically possible. And they have been keeping that flickering hope alive by winning their previous two matches, while others have done their bit for them, too - Mumbai Indians came from behind to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Kings XI Punjab, who are also trying to fight their way out of a very tight corner, handed Royal Challengers Bangalore their first defeatof the year at the Chinnaswamy stadium. Knight Riders have to win their remaining two matches now, and do it with as big a margin as possible to boost their net run rate, and hope Sunrisers and Royal Challengers keep losing.

Knight Riders will be glad that one of their two upcoming must-wins is against Pune Warriors. Bottom-of-the-table Warriors have long since been out of this tournament, and have looked clueless more often than not. For them, this match is all about preventing their losing streak from extending into double digits: they have lost nine in a row since showing so much promise by beating Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk. Considering they have lost 33 out of 44 IPL matches (10 wins, 1 no result) overall, and 21 off the previous 23, any victory however insignificant would be most welcome.

Pune Warriors performance in this season of IPL hasn't changed much, after couple of victories everyone was expecting a lot from them but they again turned to be one of the weakest team of the tournament and for their captaincy is the main reason for their performance.

Kolkata Knight Riders have an outside chance to qualify for the play-offs but they are very much dependent upon Risers and Kings XI performances. Though their batsmen didn't perform very well in the last match against the RCB here on this ground they have better bowling attach if you compare that too Pune Warriors.

To keep in mind that KKR already have won a match on this ground and have better bowling attack and decent captaincy, our expert would like to go with KKR in this match.

Super Kings look to nail playoff spot | PunterPolls Prediction

Two teams will show up at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday, though for one of them, nothing is at stake. Delhi Daredevils have already been knocked out and the only thing they can achieve is to make Chennai Super Kings' path to the playoffs harder. Super Kings lost their No.1 spot to Mumbai Indians late on Monday, on the basis of net run rate.* A win from their next two games is enough to ensure a place in the final four. Having come this far, Super Kings won't settle for anything less than pole position for the playoffs.
They face the easier of their two opponents on Tuesday, before heading to Bangalore where Royal Challengers Bangalore have an unbeaten record. Super Kings were defeated comprehensively by Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur, though the game was more evenly matched than the scorecard suggests. Super Kings are known to start off slowly before accelerating in the second half of the innings, but bizarrely, on Sunday, it was the other way round. Regular fall of wickets stalled their progress and they ended with a below-par 141. Their bowlers posed a threat in the early stages of the chase but, for the second time in the evening, Royals took control in the second half, thanks largely to Shane Watson's assault.

If Super Kings win both their games, they are certain of finishing in the top two. If they lose both, they could be level on 20 points with two other teams, thereby leaving the final word with the net run rate. During Super Kings' dream run of seven consecutive wins, there was the likelihood of their final few games turning inconsequential, but two defeats against Mumbai and Royals have given their game against Daredevils more context.

While it would have disappointed them immensely, Royal Challengers Bangalore's loss to Kolkata Knight Riders hasn't hurt their chances of qualifying for the play-offs much. They are still fourth on the points table, ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad in terms of net run-rate and are much better placed than them.

Their last two matches are at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where they've had an enviable record this season. There's an outside chance that Royal Challengers can qualify even if they lose their remaining two matches. But they'll be looking to secure their position in the top four as quickly as possible, with a last game against Chennai Super Kings on May 18*.

Royal Challengers' opponents tomorrow, Kings XI Punjab, still have an outside chance if they win their remaining matches but, at this stage, that seems purely academic. More importantly, they can affect Royal Challengers' chances. The last time these two teams played each other, David Miller struck a whirlwind century to stun Royal Challengers in a big chase.

Having struggled on a slow pitch, Royal Challengers will find the easy pace of the Chinnaswamy track a welcome relief. The bigger problem for the home side, however, is their struggle to shut the opposition out of the match. That defeat to Kings XI aside, Delhi Daredevils ran them close in spite of Royal Challengers having posted 183 on the board. They'll be hoping to shut out Kings XI, else there is a possibility a top four spot could prove elusive.

Must win match for Royal Challenger Banglore. Kings XI has done good while chasing the target. Pitch is good and by the time of writing this KIngs XI have won the toss and elected to field first.

Zaheer and Muralitharan is back for RCB and this is an important change while defending the target. Our experts has decided to with RCB in this important encounter.

We have arrived at that stage of the tournament where the scramble to make the playoffs is in full swing. While the numerical possibilities say otherwise, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are in all likelihood through while the bottom four are out. That leaves a middle cluster of three teams vying for the remaining two playoff spots. Both Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad are in this cluster, meaning their encounter on Monday at the Wankhede will be vital.
After 13 games each, Mumbai Indians have 18 points and Sunrisers have 16. Sunrisers face the tougher of the tasks on hand, and not just because they have fewer points; Mumbai have won six out of six games at the Wankhede so far this season. While Sunrisers too have a very good home record - they've scored points in five of six at Uppal - they have won only three away matches, all against teams below them on the points table.

They can draw some confidence, though, from their showing on Saturday in Mohali against Kings XI. There they first recovered from 52 for 5 to 150 with smart batting, before their bowlers once again did the job. Also, as has been their style at Uppal, they had restricted Mumbai Indians to 129 earlier in the tournament, and then chased down the target with ease, courtesy Shikhar Dhawan. They'll need all the confidence they can get when facing Mumbai at home.

Mumbai Indians will take on Sunrisers - the best bowling side of the tournament. Last time when Risers play against the CSK the other good batting side have conceded lots of runs but we are doubtful that the same will repeat again today.

Sunrisers have shown some very good cricket so far and Mumbai Indians are unbeatable at their hometruf. All experts decided post their opinion after the toss. That too as in comments section of the posts.

It's ironic that even at this stage, not even one of the four playoff berths have been confirmed. It's easy to think that Chennai Super Kings, table leaders since April 28, have already made it to the playoffs, but mathematically, they haven't. Victory against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday will confirm their position in the final four. After Jaipur, they head back home to face the easiest of their three opponents , Delhi Daredevils, before heading to Bangalore. Both their away games are against teams that haven't lost at home. The prospect of Super Kings getting eliminated is highly improbable, given their consistency. They had a rude wake-up call against Mumbai Indians, but the manner in which they overpowered Sunrisers Hyderabad - another team with an unbeaten home record till that night - showed that they hadn't hit a late-season slump.

Royals will be aware that if there's one team that can challenge their fortress, it's Super Kings. Royals' remaining opponents aren't the easiest - Super Kings, Mumbai Indians (away), Sunrisers (away). However, given their recent form, it's hard to bet against them from qualifying either. Their last three wins - consecutive - have come while chasing. They will also be aware that Super Kings posted 223 in their last match, so if they end up bowling first, their bowlers will have to be at their best. Royals are third with 18 points and their aim will be to knock Mumbai off the second position.

Royals eying for another victory at home but this time they have toughest opponent of the tournament - CSK. Its not been easy for any team to win this contest as Royals are in form and Chennai Super are going with great guns.

As everyone knows till now that this Jaipur pitch is full of runs and chasing under 180 is not a big problem for both teams. So no doubt going with chasing team is always a safe bet.

Our experts choice - Chennai Super Kings

It is likely that Chennai Super Kings will find more support in Ranchi than Kolkata Knight Riders. The last time the JSCA International Stadium Complex hosted a game, the hometown boy MS Dhoni hit the winning runs in an ODI against England in front of a packed house in a city where his popularity possibly rivals Sourav Ganguly's in Kolkata. Dhoni's IPL team, however, won't be playing in Ranchi this year. Instead, the Ranchi crowd, on paper, should be backing a side on a ventilator this season; it won't be a surprise if they end up supporting Royal Challengers Bangalore, a team with greater star power and in the running for a spot in the play-offs, or perhaps they will end up backing both.

Knight Riders won comfortably against Pune Warriors in their previous game, and Royal Challengers beat Delhi Daredevils narrowly. A win for Royal Challengers will take their tally to nine and them to No.2, though having played one game more than the rest in the top four.

Kolkata have shown good cricket in their last match against Pune and RCB have won a close encounter against the Delhi Daredevils. Thing which I want you to concentrate on is bowling department of both the teams. Kolkata Knight Riders bowling is much stronger if you compare them to RCB's bowling.

Whereas, Royals Challenger Batting does have  lot of firepower as their top order is performing good. So, KKR would like to bat first after winning the toss and RCB will like to chase. All in all, this is going to be perfect match for cricket lovers to watch for.

Though, KKR have nothing to loose and like to spoil the party for RCB, our experts believe that Royal Challenger does have better chance to win this contest.
