PunterPolls Prediction – Match 47: Kolkata Knight Riders v Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata, 3 May

Desperate Knight Riders running out of time | PunterPolls Prediction

Kolkata Knight Riders find themselves racing the clock as time runs out on their bid to make it to the playoffs. With just three wins in 10 matches, Knight Riders risk finishing in the bottom half of the table unless they win every game from here on, including the one on Friday against Rajasthan Royals.
Knight Riders have enough firepower in their line-up to create a final surge. But their biggest hurdle, against Royals and the other teams, has been inconsistency. They've had few days when the batting and bowling has clicked together and the failure of marquee players has dragged them down further. But Knight Riders will hope the side that takes the field on Friday can feed off the enthusiasm and support of the loyal home crowd.

Royals need this win as badly as Knight Riders. They've been poor travellers this season and as the competition for the playoff spots heads for a logjam, a win here could give them some breathing space and possibly the momentum to open up a gap of a few points.

Fortunately for Royals, they have players who have stepped up to the challenges thrown their way. The batting looks settled in spite of captain Rahul Dravid's changes in the batting order. Shane Watson's return to form and contributions from players like Dishant Yagnik, Brad Hodge, Sanju Samson and James Faulkner have helped them beat more fancied teams and they are more than capable of springing a surprise on Knight Riders.

PunterPolls Prediction

Kolkata Knight Riders does have strength to beat any team in the tournament but in every match they are facing some different problems. Their team combination is biggest problem. In their last match, we have mentioned how useless Yusuf Pathan is, and we are infact shocked that he is getting preference over the Manoj Tiwary. Gambhir is not using him for bowling and he is not a better fielder at all, as far as Yusuf's batting is concern, according to me he don't know how to hold the bat. They have done good move of dropping Senaneyeke in the last encounter against the Daredevils but then their batting fails.

As far as Rajasthan is concern, All players in this team are contributing one or another way. This team is perfect combination of experience and youth. By this time Royals been supported by 56% of punters and why not, they have registered a win against RCB and MI in the recent matches they have played at their home ground. But they are struggling  in away games and this is what we can say advantage for KKR.

According to the conditions, both team would like to chase the target on this pitch. KKR have already lost their first encounter against the Rajasthan and according to our experts KKR team is not to repeat the same mistake twice. So we are with Kolkata Knight Riders today

PunterPolls Prediction – Match 46: Pune Warriors v Royal Challengers Bangalore at Pune, 2 May

Royal Challengers look for 'away' surge| PunterPolls Prediction

Given their current form, Pune Warriors will be desperately hoping their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore isn't a repeat of the carnage that took place in Bangalore a little over a week ago.

Since that match, Royal Challengers have lost consecutive away games but still are favourites going into this encounter. While it's easy to pin the losses on Chris Gayle's poor scores, the other batsmen haven't really had a substantial stay at the crease. They need this win to correct their dismal away record this season (four losses in four games) and get closer to sealing their playoff spot. Royal Challengers will need to be wary of Warriors, given that the tournament is almost over for the hosts and they will be looking to upset the chances of the bigger teams.

Inconsistent batting has dragged Warriors down this season and they seem like a team pulling in different directions. The failure of Indian batsmen, especially Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh, has been damaging for them. Death bowling is another area where Warriors have suffered - in their last two matches, against Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils, Warriors conceded 62 and 63 runs respectively in the last five.

PunterPolls Prediction

Pune Warriors team with one of the best batting line-up and 20% cricketing mind. They have given up most of theie matches in platter to the rival team. Match against Daredevils, they were lost their mind right in front of their finishing mark. Against CSK, they started up well and have controlled the burden of chasing big total in first 2 overs and then they starting throwing their wickets. Yuvraj who consider himself as good finisher is not able to handle the little bit of pressure. I think PWI main problem is their captaincy, they need an experience player who should guide them what to do at what stage.

Royal Challenger Banglore, what to say about the team. They have performed brilliantly in home games and we have ignored that this team also lacking up as far as captaincy is concern. They managed to tie the game against Daredevils at their home ground from the situation where they can win easily, against Mumbai their ordinary bowling performance and then failure of top order. They played just like PWI in that game. And finally their game against Rajasthan Royals, really out of the mind captaincy by Kohli. He didn't ask MC Henriques to bowl at crucial stage of the game, who had give 6 runs in 2 overs.

Pune's strength is their batting and if they will be able to play sensibly they can win. On the other hand, RCB has golden chance to break the jinks of loosing away matches. Will keep you update during the matches, so please stay tuned.

PunterPolls Prediction – Match 45: Chennai Super Kings v Kings XI Punjab at Chennai, 2 May

Mid-table Kings XI look for consistency| PunterPolls Prediction

Chennai Super Kings have been among the best travelers this IPL, winning all four of their away games, in addition to the four home wins. With eight wins and 16 points - four ahead of second-placed Royal Challengers Bangalore - Super Kings are all but certain of a place in the playoffs, having won six in a row. Their journey this year is in contrast to 2012, where they groped around in the darkness in the middle stages, before sneaking into the playoffs in a frenzy, helped along the way by a few other teams. In 2013, they have been remarkably consistent and that's partly due to the fact that they have stuck with a core of players - six of them have played all ten games, while Michael Hussey and Chris Morris are a close second with nine. Against bottom-placed Pune Warriors, they went back to their tried and tested formula of starting slowly with the bat and then attacking. Warriors were batted out of the match.

Super Kings can expect stiffer competition from the unpredictable Kings XI Punjab, who ran Mumbai Indians close on Monday in a tense chase. The result could have gone their way if it weren't for the umpiring in the final over, when an above-waist high full toss wasn't penalised by the umpires, denying them an extra ball and a run. Only four runs separated the teams in the end. It could also have been different had they sent Piyush Chawla and Praveen Kumar - both with proven track records as hitters - ahead of Manpreet Gony, who wasted three balls and didn't score. They made a significant change at the top, dropping the out-of-form Adam Gilchrist, and handing the captaincy to David Hussey, who could continue in that role till the end of the tournament. Kings XI have lost their last two games, and need some wins to try and get in to the top four. Beating Super Kings in Chennai will be a challenge, but it's not impossible, as Mumbai and Warriors have done earlier.

PunterPolls Prediction

In yesterday's second match between Daredevils and KKR we had posted that Delhi's strength is batting and if they chase they will have better chances to win the game. We have posted the same after the toss the Delhi has better chances to win the game now, if you missed please check.

As you may have seen, since past one week we are posting our predictions only if we find that we are not agreeing with the Punters Polls result. And since we are having very limited resources we won't be able to remain online during all matches. But you have to bear with us for sometime as we are in the process of expending our website reach. And this process will take sometime. Hopefully within next few months we will be able to provide you guys better services.

Anyhow, lets comeback to today's game between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab. We are amaze with the polling results in this match, we were expecting more than 70% should be in favor of CSK rather then 60% as of now right now and this is quite surprising for us after seeing the both  team performances. CSK on doubt is playing like champions, whereas Kings XI is struggling for consistency as far as winning habit is concern.

Here we have tried to read the punters  mind, and what we have realized that, they are not very confident about the Chennai win in this match although they have superb record in this tournament regardless of any ground. We have listed few reasons below, please comment at the bottom of the post if you agree with them:

  1. Chennai have won all last five matches they have played and if they repeat this again there will be no fun in the tournament.
  2. Kings XI has done well against the Mumbai, where they have lost in a very close encounter. And punter are expecting the same mistake should not be repeated by t hem

According to our experts this is going to be a fantastic match and Kings XI should rule this game most of the time. As far as winning team is concern we are not very sure about so we would request all our punters to post the comments, answer the fellow punters questions and use our site just like Facebook where you used to comment on each other updates etc. We will also participate in this but you should keep in mind that this site is for all the punters.

PunterPolls Prediction – Match 44: Delhi Daredevils v Kolkata Knight Riders at Raipur, 1 May

Struggling teams look to leave the bottom third| PunterPolls Prediction

Teams usually go into the IPL targeting one win more than half the matches they play, and then take it from there. Nine has been the magic number all captains have been talking about. Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils have played nine games each, and are six and seven wins away from that magic number.

The phrase captains quote most is about doing things right and letting results take care of themselves. Knight Riders and Daredevils haven't quite been able to do that so far. Knight Riders have relied on spin, but their local batsmen have let them down. Daredevils have the big names in both the batting and bowling department, but they haven't fired as much as they would have liked.

They don't have much time left, and need to start winning consistently to keep the league interesting. The halfway point is way too early for teams to be ruled out of the playoff stakes.

PunterPolls Prediction

Second encounter of the day, Almost a month have passed when these two teams have had played opening match of the tournament. Daredevils who were the bookies favorite in the match have lost the game rather easily, punters were marginally supporting KKR (51%) in that match.

After a month, nothing much have changed. Daredevils are still struggling and KKR have lost their way after fine start. Sehwag who has missed the opener is back but is struggling with the form. He has shown some spark in the match against the Mumbai Indians at Kotla but that was too bad bowling by Mumbai Indians.

Kolkata Knight Riders is actually a very good team and if you look at the last few matches, they are shaping up very well. Only players that don't deserve a place in the squad is Yusuf Pathan, he has to go out for this match. Also, we are expecting Lee to be included in this match instead of McCullum or Senanayake.

As far as Delhi Daredvils is concern, batting is their strength. They only have chance to win the game if they manage to stop KKR less than 170. Otherwise our first choice is Kolkata Knight Riders all the way.

PunterPolls Prediction – Match 43: Sunrisers Hyderabad v Mumbai Indians at Hyderabad, 1 May

Sunrisers aim to stick with the pack | PunterPolls Prediction

The scramble to finish in the top four is getting intense as the league moves into the second half. While Chennai Super Kings have floated to the top and two teams with inertia working against them have settled at the bottom, others are still moving up and down randomly in Brownian motion. Sunrisers Hyderabad were at the top a week ago, but after two away losses they have descended to No. 5. They have a chance to catch the updraught again when they face a strong Mumbai Indians team at their home venue.

Most teams this year have thrived in home conditions and Sunrisers are no different - they have won three out of three in Hyderabad on the back of some inspiring spells by their all-round bowling unit even after repeated batting collapses. With the inclusion of Shikhar Dhawan and Darren Sammy, the line-up appears - at least on paper - a bit spunkier. If they can find a way to extend the aggression shown by their bowlers to their batting - and fielding - they can continue springing surprises. The only problem that remains to be solved is their constant juggling of the captaincy.

Mumbai Indians' home record is immaculate, but playing away, they have blown hot and cold. Their batting was dismal in Jaipur and their bowlers appeared listless in Delhi. However, they seem to have bumped into the right formula under the new leadership of Rohit Sharma and have won three consecutive matches, although that has neatly covered up the lack of form of their 40-year-old opener. Can they pull up a similar act without the Mumbai crowd behind them?

PunterPolls Prediction

Punters are doing exceptionally well now a days and as we have mentioned earlier, If you are with punters then your predictions is being proving correct at-least 8 out of 10 times.  Yesterday what we have found over the facebook that most of the people are talking about Pune Warriors to win the match only because they think that Pune was playing at their home ground and have good batsmen. But as our experts said, they are lacking as far as captaincy is concern. A team can perform better even though they do have average players like Sunrisers Hydrabad.

Sunrisers have lost couple of games but this is the team who have won quite a few very close games. This team is playing as a unit and if they manage to include Sammy and T.Perera along with Sangakara (instead of C.White), this team does have strength to beat any team.

MI have won three matches on the trot including an away match against KKR. Looking at the trend, home advantage is playing a crucial role in the tournament and this could be the reason that punters are bit confuse about predicting the team today. By this time only 55% punters are supporting Mumbai Indians and that is to close.

Our experts believe MI do have an edge especially if they bat first. But on this slow pitch, if they will have ask to chase the total around 150, Sunrisers is the team to bank upon.

PunterPolls Prediction – Match 37: Mumbai Indians v Royal Challengers Bangalore at Mumbai, 27 April

Table leaders RCB out of comfort zone | PunterPolls Prediction

Halfway through the tournament, Royal Challengers Bangalore are in pole position, tied on points with Chennai Super Kings but ahead on net run rate. They have played a huge chunk of their home games in a cluster, and made the most of familiar conditions and vociferous support, winning six out of six at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Their two losses have been away games.

For their next six matches, starting with Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede, Royal Challengers will be traveling the country. Away from the comfort of their surroundings, their consistency will be put to test. Royal Challengers should guard against peaking too early, and their coach Ray Jennings said their early success will count for nothing if they lose focus in their second round of games. A pleasing aspect for Royal Challengers is that their two leading wicket-takers are Indians, Vinay Kumar and RP Singh.

Mumbai Indians are a better team on paper than their position in the points table - No. 6 - suggests. They sprung a surprise when Ricky Ponting opted out of the previous match and handed over the captaincy to Rohit Sharma. Mumbai scrambled to a five-wicket win against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, and with their next six games at home they have a chance to get back into the top four. What remains to be seen is whether Ponting returns.

PunterPolls Prediction

RCB v MI, the match everyone is waiting to begin. Two teams with big names will clash again at Mumbais home ground. In their first encounter, RCB have won the match rather dramatically. RCB was batting first after loosing the toss and didn't get very good start. They lost 3 wickets at the score of 31, but with the help of Gayle's power innings they managed to put up a decent total of 154. Mumbai Indians after very good start lost their way in the middle and as usual came under pressure and lost the game in last over. Biggest mistake done MI in that match was sending Pollard at the last moment. Punters had supported RCB in that match.

By this time, RCB been supported by 60% of punters and if you look at the betting odds (which is 1.91 RCB), RCB is marginally favorite for bookies - rougly 52%.

In our experts opinion, RCB's record of playing outside their comfortable zone (rather say Den) is not that great. They have lost both of their games against Risers and CSK in this season. On other hand, MI who always under pressure while chasing have shown superb cricket against KKR and that too at Kolkata's home ground.

To keeping all things in mind we would like to go with Mumbai Indians.
