IPL2014: 16th match – Delhi Daredevils v Mumbai Indians, April 27, 2014

Match Preview

Match 16 of Pepsi IPL 2014 will feature the Delhi Daredevils, who wrap their UAE leg of Pepsi IPL 2014, taking on the defending champions Mumbai Indians.

Both teams haven’t had the best of times so far. Delhi Daredevils have a solitary win from four matches – that win came against the Kolkata Knight Riders two matches ago. Post that, they suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the Chennai Super Kings and finished one stroke away from a win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their most recent outing.

Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, have had a forgettable run so far and will want to turn things around quickly. They started the season on a disastrous note, losing to Kolkata Knight Riders by a massive 41 runs, before going down to Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings in their subsequent matches.

IPL2014: 13th match – Chennai Super Kings v Mumbai Indians, April 25, 2014

Match Preview

The two traditional heavyweights of the IPL – Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians – go head to head in Match 13 of Pepsi IPL 2014.

The Chennai Super Kings – as is their habit – are gleefully perched in the top half of the table. They were blown away by Kings XI Punjab in their season opener, but came back strongly to outclass Delhi Daredevils and Rajasthan Royals. The batting caved in meekly in the previous match against RR, but after useful runs from the lower helped them to a respectable total, the bowlers stepped up to restrict the opposition to 133.

Mumbai Indians are the defending champions, but they have had a disastrous start to the season, losing both their matches. Kolkata Knight Riders whipped them by 41 runs in the inaugural match of the season, after which RCB handed them a seven-wicket defeat. MI have managed a total of 237 runs in 40 overs so far, losing 16 wickets in the process. In contrast, they have only managed to pick up eight wickets while conceding 279 runs in 37.3 overs. MI, coming back to the league after a five-day break, will realise that there is an urgent need to get their act together quickly.

CLT20 2013 – Final: Mumbai Indians v Rajasthan Royals at Delhi, 6 Oct

Two legends, but only one perfect finish | PunterPolls Prediction

CLT20 2013 - A chance to see two legends play the T20 format for the last time was one of the things to look forward to at the start of this Champions League, but by some design and because of the quality of cricket played by Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians, the two players have got an opportunity to finish in style. The 2013 Champions League began with the Dravid v Tendulkar show, and it is ending the same way.

Despite being light-years away from their best form, they continue to inspire their respective teams - Rahul Dravid, in an active and visible role as the passionate leader and Tendulkar, as every Mumbai Indians player concedes, for being the guiding light.

Dravid joined the franchise three years ago and has managed to successfully convert Warne's Royals into Rahul's Royals after a topsy-turvy year that brought exhilarating highs and crushing lows. He had said at the start of the tournament that the team was closer because of the spot-fixing crisis they faced and that has shown in their undefeated campaign in this tournament. Their non-flashy players excelled playing a similar non-flashy brand of cricket. Ajinkya Rahane, Shane Watson, Brad Hodge, Stuart Binny and Sanju Samson have collectively stood up to every batting challenge efficiently, but it's their bowling that has surprised most, with inspirational performances from inexperienced players like Pravin Tambe, Rahul Shukla and Vikramjeet Malik.

PunterPolls Prediction

We are bit late today, but we are hoping that things will go according to our experts. Two best team of the tournament are facing each other in the decider. What a co-incidence that both team had also played the opener at Jaipur. Again; Royals have won the toss and elected to bowl first. Just like they did in their first encounter.

While analysing both the teams we can see that Royals chasing in this match is bit unsure in the absence of Brad Hodge and the venue changed to Delhi. Like to remind you all that Royals are playing very first time out of Jaipur. Though Mumbai Indians have already played two games on this pitch; this is the first time they have been asked to bat first on this track.

According to our experts, at this stage batting first is always an advantage and we have seen MI do struggle while chasing at the big stage. On the other hand, Royals in the absence of Hodge can struggle while chasing anything more than 155.

So to keep everything in mind, our experts have decided to go with Mumbai Indians in this match. We are also expecting a good match here and chasing team will play with sum pressure on their shoulders. So keep your figures cross. 🙂

CLT20 2013 – 2nd Semi-Final: Trinidad & Tobago v Mumbai Indians at Delhi, 5 Oct

T&T look to gatecrash IPL teams' party | PunterPolls Prediction

CLT20 2013 - After making the inaugural Champions League T20 final against New South Wales in 2009, Trinidad & Tobago have not reached the tournament's knockouts again. In this edition, the group stage got better and better for them. After a four-wicket loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in their second match, they held on - helped by a late shower - in a must-win game against Titans, before shocking tournament favourites Chennai Super Kings in their final game. Their eight-wicket win against Super Kings was so comprehensive, they catapulted them into top place in Group B.

T&T's strength remains their bowling, specifically mystery spinner Sunil Narine who was the highest wicket-taker at the end of the group stage with eight scalps. While they've had the occasional sparkle from their batsmen - like Evin Lewis' quickfire 70 against Titans - it is primarily Narine, with some help from seamers Ravi Rampaul and Rayad Emrit, who has brought the team so far. Still, T&T, the only non-IPL team left in the tournament, are the underdogs in their semi-final encounter, as they face a star-laden Mumbai Indians line-up.

Mumbai's progression to the semi-finals was far trickier. A humbling seven-wicket loss to Rajasthan Royals followed by a washout against Otago meant they faced an uphill task to go through. Upon securing a much-needed victory against Lions, they showed just what their power-packed batting is capable off, mowing down 150 in 13.2 overs (they needed to do so in 14.2) against Perth Scorchers to bump their net run rate over Otago and qualify.

PunterPolls Prediction

First of like to congratulate all the punters and visitors of our website about yesterday's game, once again team supported by most punters have won. With this match one most important thing has also been cleared,  Which is: At PunterPolls most of the people would like to go with the favourite team and we been tired say "No, this is not the case". Yesterday, CSK was the favourite team whereas most punters were supporting Royals.

Lets back to today's match: Trinidad v Mumbai Indians. MI have tournaments finest batting line-up and some very good spinners. Though Sachin and Kartik is not looking in very good touch but then Smith is looking in very good form along with Rohit Sharma, Maxwell, Pollard and Rayudu. Other hand, T&T has shown superb cricket throughout the tournament. They scored big runs as well as defend couple of descent totals. Their strength is their bowling; they have talented spinners combo (Badri-Narine) and a very good medium pacer Rampaul.

According to our experts, "Today, punters are more confused as compare to yesterday's game. One of the main reason behind this is the way T&T had played against the CSK. What punter is ignoring is the way Mumbai Indians batsmen have played on Delhi's pitch.

They do have some very good players who can play spin very well (Dinesh Kartik, Rohit Sharma, Smith and master himself ). Also they do have some very good spinners who can be very useful on this pitch and this can surprise T&T batsmen. "

So, to keep all the above mentioned reasons; our experts have decided to go with Mumbai Indians on this match.

Langer hopes for a Hollies on Tendulkar | PunterPolls Prediction

CLT20 2013 - Perth Scorchers coach Justin Langer hopes one of his spinners will do an Eric Hollies on Sachin Tendulkar when they play Mumbai Indians in the last Group A fixture on Wednesday. Hollies, a legspinner from England, is best remembered as the man who bowled Don Bradman for a duck in his final Test innings, leaving him four runs short of an average of 100 in Tests.

"I hope we have a Hollies in our team tomorrow when we bowl to Sachin. Hollies - wasn't that the name?" Langer told journalists on the eve of their last match. "Well, I love watching Sachin bat and wish he never gets out. But tomorrow, I wouldn't like him to score too many runs. Even at this age of 40, he batted in the nets for two hours the other day. That was incredible."

"I would like my boys to take up the challenge of playing against superstars. This is an inexperienced side and they will learn a lot from this trip. Look at Otago Volts. They have come here three times and now it's showing results."

Tendulkar is now 26 runs short of completing 50,000 runs in first-class, List A and Twenty20 matches.

What Mumbai need to do to qualify

  • If Mumbai Indians lose, they are knocked out of the tournament and Otago go through
  • If Mumbai bat first and post anything in the region of 120 to 180, they will need to win by around 48 runs
  • If Mumbai bat second, and they are chasing 120, they need to win with 37 balls remaining. If they are chasing 180, the balls remaining comes down to 32.

PunterPolls Prediction

Perth Scorchers haven't played any impressive cricket so far but they still have something to cheer about if they will be able to register a win in their last match against Mumbai Indians. On the other hand Mumbai Indians have must win situation over here and that too with specified margin.

According to our experts - Mumbai Indians should win this game, as far as their chances to qualify for the semi's they are bit doubtful. But if they will be able to done this magic then Otago should blame themselves for not putting the better show yesterday night's.
